Sheppard Mullin’s Yookyung Moon Elevated To Partner; Firm Honors Chairman Guy Halgren With Diversity & Inclusion Award; Adam Freiman Joins Sheppard Mullin New York

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has elevated licensed foreign legal consultant Yookyung Moon to partner. Ms. Moon is a member of the firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation practice group and is based in the firm’s Seoul office. 

Previously, Ms. Moon served as senior legal counsel on the Global Legal Affairs & Compliance Team of Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd. at its Seoul headquarters. Prior to Samsung, she practiced with Sheppard Mullin in the firm’s San Francisco office.  She also worked out of the firm’s Shanghai office before joining Sheppard Mullin’s Seoul office. 

Ms. Moon specializes in complex business litigation and white collar criminal matters with an emphasis on antitrust and unfair competition issues. She has significant experience defending multinational businesses in criminal and civil proceedings involving the U.S. Department of Justice and foreign enforcement agencies. She also advises clients on various corporate compliance matters including developing and implementing antitrust audit and compliance programs and providing compliance training for executives and employees. In addition, she provides counseling for multinational businesses regarding overseas investment or operations involving multijurisdictional coordination including Korea and China, and she liaises between the firm’s attorneys and local counsel in Korea for client matters involving business or disputes in Korea. 


Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP has honored firm chairman Guy Halgren with the firm's fifth Diversity & Inclusion Award, an award that recognizes the significant diversity and inclusion commitment of a Sheppard Mullin attorney.

The award includes a financial contribution to a diversity-related organization, along with an offer of Sheppard Mullin attorney volunteers to participate in the organization’s initiatives and programs. The 2014 award organization recipient is the Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO), a nonprofit ABA entity and national college-to-law school diversity pipeline program with a history of success mentoring diverse students. 

Mr. Halgren is a partner in the Labor and Employment practice group in the firm's San Diego office and is chairman of the firm's executive committee. Since he became chairman in 2001, Sheppard Mullin has grown strategically to meet the needs of its clients. Under his leadership, the firm has opened offices in Beijing, Brussels, Century City, Chicago, London, New York, North County San Diego, Palo Alto, Seoul, Shanghai and Washington, DC. 


Adam M. Freiman has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP in the firm’s New York office as a partner in the firm's Corporate practice group. He joins from King & Spalding. 

Mr. Freiman handles a broad range of corporate finance, private equity, venture capital, and merger and acquisition transactions. He has represented both issuers and underwriters in connection with initial and secondary public offerings, “shelf” offerings, Rule 144A and other private placement transactions, and exchange and tender offers. These transactions have involved a variety of products, including equity securities, high yield debt, investment grade debt and convertible debt.  Mr. Freiman also has significant experience in advising public company clients on SEC reporting and disclosure requirements, corporate governance issues and other corporate and securities matters. He also represents both venture capital firms and emerging growth companies, as well as buyers and sellers in private equity and public and private M&A transactions. He has experience representing clients across a number of industries, including the technology, healthcare and energy industries.
