Prominent Attorneys Join Proskauer In Boston And Chicago

Proskauer has announced that top-ranked private equity/buyouts lawyer Steven M. Peck has joined the firm’s Corporate Department and Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups. Mr. Peck’s diverse transactional experience includes representing private equity sponsors, multi-national corporations, and other market participants in their most challenging transactional matters in the United States and throughout the world. He also advises clients regarding securities law issues, disclosure and compliance matters, and corporate governance.

Resident in the firm’s Boston office, Mr. Peck is ranked as a leading lawyer for Private Equity/Buyouts by Chambers USA. He has been featured as a panelist at the Federal Securities Institute in Miami, Florida and as a guest lecturer on corporate and private equity law at Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Michael J. Choate has joined the Proskauer’s preeminent Real Estate Capital Markets group as a partner. Mr. Choate has a distinguished track record with almost 25 years’ experience in REITs, securities and corporate finance, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Choate will be joined by Kevin M. Lippert, who will serve as senior counsel. Both will be resident in the firm’s Chicago office.

Mr. Choate advises both publicly traded and non-listed REITs in equity and debt offerings, merger and acquisition transactions and internalization transactions. He represents REITs sponsored by Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation including Inland Real Estate Corporation, a self-administered NYSE-listed REIT, and REITs sponsored by affiliates of Behringer Harvard Holdings. Mr. Choate also counsels publicly traded entities on matters of corporate governance, securities law, compliance and proxy and tender offer situations. Mr. Lippert focuses his practice on REITs, including public and private offerings of equity and debt securities and mergers and acquisitions.

Proskauer represented Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, and its general Partner, Clifford Viner, in the sale of the Florida Panthers (NHL), including the operations of the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, to Vincent Viola, Chief Executive Officer of Virtu Financial. The transaction closed on September 26, 2013.
