Proskauer Announces New Partners And Senior Counsel

November 1, 2012 – Proskauer has announced the promotion of six lawyers, three to partner and three to senior counsel, across the firm’s practices and offices.

“These promotions acknowledge each lawyer’s exceptional legal work, dedication to client service and outstanding contributions to our firm," said Joseph M. Leccese, Proskauer chairman. “They reflect the dynamic growth of our firm as we continue to expand our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

The firm’s new partners and senior counsel are as follows:


Justin J. Daniels (Boston) is a patent litigator with vast experience representing clients in the software, entertainment, media, finance and pharmaceuticals industries.

Martin T. Hamilton (New York) is a tax lawyer who represents clients with regard to a broad range of corporate, partnership and international tax matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, cross-border investments and structured financing in such industries as financial services, technology, insurance, real estate, health care and energy.

Joseph C. O'Keefe (Newark) focuses his practice on labor and employment litigation and arbitration, representing clients, primarily in the financial services industry, in disputes before federal and state courts, arbitral tribunals and federal and state administrative agencies. 

Senior Counsel

Brian L. Friedman (New York) is a litigator who represents clients with regard to complex financial services and securities litigation, arbitration and enforcement proceedings.

Evandro C. Gigante (New York) focuses on labor and employment litigation, representing clients in a broad range of disputes, including allegations of race, gender, national origin, disability and religious discrimination, before federal and state courts, arbitrators and administrative agencies.

Jordan B. Leader (New York) is a litigator who focuses his practice on sports law and international arbitration. He represents clients in complex contract, joint venture, licensing, fraud and antitrust disputes in federal and state courts and domestic and international arbitrations.

Proskauer's International Labor & Employment Law Group has launched a new blog, International Labor Law, aimed at helping global businesses keep informed on a myriad of topics, ranging from social media and data privacy in the workplace to employment questions related to mergers and acquisitions.

“Keeping up to date on the latest labor issues and trends with international and cross-border implications can be daunting, so we created the blog to make it easy for our multinational clients to stay current on new and emerging legal developments that might affect their businesses,” said Proskauer International Labor & Employment Law Group co-head Yasmine Tarasewicz, who serves as editor along with Special International Labor & Employment counsel Cécile Martin, both of whom are based in Paris.

The blog will provide commentary on a wide range of topics important to multinational companies, including international privacy issues; drafting, implementing, reviewing and amending global employment policies; cross-border reductions in force and restructurings; international bonus plans and other executive compensation and benefits issues; multijurisdictional employee investigations; global diversity programs; expatriate legal issues; employee aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions; and offshoring and global resourcing.

October, 2012 – Proskauer has announced the further expansion of its Finance Group and global Corporate Department with the addition of Rajani K. Gupta as senior counsel in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Ms. Gupta joins the firm from Latham & Watkins, where she worked as a finance lawyer for more than a decade.

Ms. Gupta represent banks, financial institutions, private equity funds, strategic investors and corporations in a wide range of transactions, including secured and unsecured financings, acquisition financings, leveraged buyouts, asset-based loans, corporate recapitalizations and other types of complex and traditional financings. She joins a growing Finance Group that in just over a year has also added partners Ron D. Franklin, Gregory D. Ruback, Justin Breen and Andrew Bettwy and senior counsel Glen Lim.
