Datacert Inc. has announced that Passport, its platform-based legal e-billing and matter management system, has been once again been named an Advanced Solution by Hyperion Research in its 2011 MarketViewTM report entitled, “e-Billing and Matter Management Solutions for Corporations.” This report, which has quickly become the industry’s leading source for objective analysis of enabling technologies for corporate legal departments, describes an Advanced Solution provider as one that, “demonstrates significant strength in both product functionality and overall solution capabilities…has a strong record of client satisfaction and market share…has a highly regarded management team and organization…and has demonstrated financial stability.”

Evaluated against 19 other vendors in 8 categories, the report found that the, “core e-billing and matter management application modules in Passport are well-designed, meeting expected capabilities and features.” In addition, Datacert, which received more special honors than any other vendor evaluated in the report, was recognized in particular for its international leadership and several innovative capabilities that Hyperion Research recognized as differentiated in the industry, specifically:

Sole “Market Leader” for International Capabilities – Noting the importance of EU and international capabilities as one of the market’s top priorities, Hyperion recognized Datacert as the only vendor evaluated that offers a comprehensive solution that fully supports the unique and complex e-billing requirements in Europe, as well as for having industry-leading internationalization capabilities; Hyperion also noted Datacert’s long-established European presence and thought leadership in understanding the unique EU regulatory environment.

Industry-Leading Design and Usability – Recognizing that if lawyers don’t use the system, clients don’t get value from it, Datacert put great emphasis on the design and usability of Passport, enlisting the aid of external usability experts to do so. Based on extensive interviews with Passport clients, Hyperion Research’s report recognized Passport with two “Highly Innovative” designations – one for the user interface, described as having “extensive user personalization and usability in all aspects of the system”; and one for its usability, particularly the “deep integration to Outlook [that] includes embedded e-billing and matter functionality, reduc[ing] barriers to adoption.”

Robust Implementation and Support Services and Tools – Designed specifically to evolve as clients’ needs change, Passport offers a comprehensive toolset that enables clients to manage and configure their system in-house, using light technology resources. With its “Highly Innovative” designation, Hyperion Research recognized the power and uniqueness of Passport’s platform model including its extensive configuration and development tools. In conducting interviews with Datacert clients, Hyperion learned how clients are successfully implementing Passport and found that that, “clients noted particular satisfaction with Datacert’s implementation services and ability to handle complex project delivery” and that, “ongoing support services were considered to meet or exceed expectations.” The report also recognizes Datacert’s, “sophisticated training program,” the Datacert Learning Institute, which provides comprehensive training and certification options to clients and partners.

Ability to Consolidate Company’s Technology Portfolios – Designed to support all aspects of legal operations and reporting, Passport provides the foundation for the consolidation and deployment of a broad range of legal applications and offers both a set of defined functional applications for e-billing and matter management, as well as a rich toolset that allows organizations to design, build, and deploy custom system capabilities to support their unique business requirements. This strategy was supported by the analyst’s findings, according to the report, which states, “In our client interviews, Datacert received high marks for…the potential for Passport to serve as the client’s broad-based legal platform.”
