In this issue, we are pleased to feature Careen Shannon of Fragomen on how the Trump administration’s “Buy American and Hire American” – a/k/a “extreme vetting” – executive order has roiled the waters for employers seeking business visas for foreign talent (p. 17).

In addition, Nick Donofrio and Helene Gayle of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) discuss the role boards should play in assuring corporate culture is a business asset – not a reputational liability (p. 8).

Our editors also dive into one of the hottest sectors going, connected and autonomous vehicles, with a series of interviews and articles focused on the seemingly innumerable regulatory risks and business opportunities (p. 22).

Last month, MCC held the first installment in our Second Annual Roundtable on Global Risk series with co-host Clifford Chance, represented by David DiBari and Sarah Jones, joined by subject matter experts Christopher Morvillo and Judith Seddon. See our summary of the discussion with leading corporate counsel on the threat of executive prosecutions and the pros and cons of cooperation with law enforcement (p. 10).

I’d also like to call your attention to our recent webinars related to the Internet of Things and diversity, which are available for on-demand viewing. Keep an eye out for e-vites to more such webinars, which are also highlighted on our website.

As we look forward to 2018, please continue to email me at with your ideas and suggestions. And from all of us at MCC, thank you for your ongoing support. Here’s wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year!
