In this issue, we are pleased to feature Tony West of PepsiCo. Tony and his fellow PepsiCo executives have forged a culture that rewards and celebrates diversity and inclusion within the workplace. 

We also spoke to Don Liu, former Minority Corporate Counsel Association chair, about their Employer of Choice awards. We congratulate this year's nominees, which included American Express, Discover Financial, Duke Energy, Huntington Ingalls Industries and Verizon.

Also in this issue we have a special section dedicated to FinTech, which has jumped the track from back-office computing systems to new business models, technologies and much more. This issue is also filled with enlightening content related to blockchain, InsurTech, cross-border investigations and more.

Over the past few months I have been fortunate to attend several industry events. It is always inspiring to meet with other professionals in our legal ecosystem, and it strikes me that we are fortunate to have so many skilled professionals working among us. At the Legal Marketing Association Southeast Regional Conference (LMASE) in Charlotte, I attended an eye-opening panel discussion between Lesley E. Garafola, Director of Legal Operations at Barings, LLC, Michael Russell, Lean Leader - Legal Operations at Ingersoll Rand, and Tom Trujillo, Deputy General Counsel & COO at Wells Fargo Law Department. Each had a unique perspective, but two themes were common to all of them - their desire to truly partner with their outside counsel to ensure that both sides get value, and their commitment to ensuring that women and people of color are in fact working on their matters. Other panels at the conference shared information and insights on artificial intelligence, succession planning, legal project management and more.
