Energy Attorneys Join Nixon Peabody

Nixon Peabody LLP has announced the expansion of its energy practice with the addition of Peter Swartz and Matthew Moses as partners in the firm's Rochester, NY office.

Mr. Swartz and Mr. Moses have a wealth of transactional experience representing a significant number of energy clients .

The attorneys join Nixon Peabody's energy and environmental practice from the Syracuse office of Hiscock & Barclay. In the context of generation facilities, they have represented clients in relation to more than 22,000 megawatts of generation. They have advised developers, owners, and acquirers of generation projects (all fuels and renewables), as well as tax equity investors in such projects.

They have negotiated payment in-lieu of tax (PILOT) agreements for generating facilities with extremely large tax obligations, including large fossil plants and six nuclear power plants. They have negotiated PILOT agreements for more than 90 percent of the New York wind power capacity constructed to date, and have worked on various aspects of more than 20 wind projects.

Nixon Peabody LLP has announced the expansion of its life sciences and technology and intellectual property practices with the addition of Jill Uhl as counsel. Ms. Uhl focuses her practice on all aspects of biotech and pharmaceutical patent prosecution, business transactions, client counseling, and litigation.
