K&L Gates Welcomes New Partners

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP (K&L Gates) recently welcomed partner Stephan Mallenbaum to its New York office.

Mr. Mallenbaum counsels clients on issues relating to capital formation, mergers and acquisitions and the growth of entrepreneurial ventures. He is experienced in handling complex global, multiparty transactions.

Mr. Mallenbaum also brings to K&L Gates more than 25 years of technology-sector experience, where he works with clients to structure and develop private equity financings, public offerings, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, executive compensation plans, technology commercializations, liquidity transactions and other innovative arrangements unique to this area of business.

Sean E. Hayes has joined K&L Gates as a partner in the finance practice. Mr. Hayes represents private equity sponsors, issuers, and underwriters in debt and equity transactions primarily in connection with leveraged finance transactions. His particular focus is on high yield debt offerings.

K&L Gates recently welcomed partner Andrew B. Young to its energy practice in Washington, DC. Mr. Young's practice focuses on regulatory and transactional aspects of the energy industry, including the representation of electric utilities, transmission providers, independent power producers, power marketers, qualifying facilities, public utility holding companies, large consumers, and debt and equity investors in a variety of matters.

K&L Gates recently welcomed partner Mark S. Scott to its corporate and transactional practices. Mr. Scott practices in the corporate and transactional fields with a special emphasis on representation of German companies in connection with their inbound investments into the United States. He also counsels clients in corporate structuring and business planning, mergers and acquisitions, securities, private placements and real estate investments.

K&L Gates recently combined its Washington, DC offices at 1601 K Street, NW, bringing together more than 200 experienced lawyers and government affairs professionals. It is now one of the 20 largest law offices in the District of Columbia.

K&L Gates has been selected to receive CIO magazine's annual CIO 100 Award, given to 100 companies that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). The award will be presented August 21 at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony.
