Day Pitney, Minority-Owned Boutique Establish Strategic Alliance

Friday, June 1, 2007 - 01:00

Gray Haile LLP and Day Pitney LLP have announced a strategic alliance that will enable each firm to expand its client base and provide clients with a team of diverse lawyers with sophisticated business law experience.

The strategic alliance is designed to accomplish two important goals for law firms: (i) attaining manageable growth and (ii) meeting the expectations of corporate clients who are emphasizing the need for law firms to increase the retention and promotion of minorities.

Gray Haile, which was formed in 2006, is a boutique minority-owned transactional law firm based in Washing-ton, DC that focuses on mergers, acqui-sitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures, corporate financing trans-actions, private security placements and venture capital. The firm traces its origin to an effort to build a top-flight corporate law practice comprised of experienced attorneys who had practiced at some of the country's premier law firms.

Day Pitney, created on January 1 through the merger of Day, Berry & Howard and Pitney Hardin, is one of the country's 150 largest law firms with approximately 400 lawyers in nine offices, including a Washington, DC office which opened last year.

The two firms will remain separate entities but will co-counsel on transactions when appropriate and jointly pursue new business opportunities. In addition, effective on or about June 1, Gray Haile will share office space in Day Pitney's offices on New York Avenue in Washington, DC, providing their attorneys with full access to Day Pitney's resources.
