Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP (K&L Gates) recently welcomed partners Tom Bassett and Philip J. Carstens and of counsel Jody K. Hamilton to the firm's business and corporate practices. All three come to K&L Gates from Lukins & Annis P.S.
Mr. Bassett works across multiple corporate practices and brings nearly 30 years of experience counseling clients in creditor's rights, employment law and commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, real and personal property foreclosures, and financing and contractual matters. He represents community-owned banks, creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and both borrowers and lenders.
Mr. Carstens is a corporate and tax lawyer who brings over 30 years of experience representing a wide variety of clients in corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, mergers and acquisitions, and financial transactions. His practice focuses on corporate law, tax, trusts and estates and leveraged ESOP buyouts. Carstens also has specific experience related to the design and structure of ESOPs and other plans governed by ERISA.
Ms. Hamilton practices corporate, securities and healthcare law. She has significant experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, negotiated contracts, private security offerings, real estate matters, and ESOP transactions.
K&L Gates recently welcomed Tony Nolan to its finance practice. Mr. Nolan's practice focuses on domestic and cross-border securitization, structured finance and derivatives. He represents issuers, underwriters, servicers, bond insurers and others, and has broad experience in a variety of structured products and asset classes.
K&L Gates recently welcomed Edward G. Eisert to its investment management practice. Mr. Eisert joins the firm from Franklin Templeton Investments, where he served as general corporate counsel, senior vice president and corporate secretary of its subsidiary, Fiduciary Trust Company International. Mr. Eisert's practice at K&L Gates focuses on investment management, securities regulation, joint ventures/ mergers and acquisitions and capital markets/structured finance.
K&L Gates partner Emily L. Won has received a Professional Achievement Award from the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (APALA/NJ). This honor is presented to Asian Pacific American lawyers who have advanced professionally and added significantly to the law firm or company where they work. Ms. Won received the award during APALA/NJ's annual dinner, where she was also recognized for recently making partner at K&L Gates.
Also at the dinner, K&L Gates partner David S. Kwon was inducted for a one-year term as APALA/NJ's vice president in recognition of his active leadership in the Asian Pacific American legal community.
