Patton Boggs LLP continues to enhance its business law and core litigation capabilities by adding lateral partner hires to the firm's New York office.

A business lawyer specializing in corporate governance and regulatory matters, Nick Simeonidis, helped establish the office and was soon joined by Jay Gladis, an international business transactions and corporate finance counselor. Most recently, the firm announced the addition of two more lateral partners, Timothy J. Pfister and Michael A. Smith.

Mr. Pfister will continue to focus on international corporate transactions and Mr. Smith will concentrate on cross-border corporate finance and M&A matters.

Longtime commercial litigation practitioner Jim Copley has also joined the office to expand the firm's overall capacity to serve clients.

Mr. Simeonidis previously served as general counsel and senior vice president of human resources for General Cigar Holdings, working on significant challenges to the U.S. premium cigar industry.

Mr. Gladis has more than 30 years of experience as general outside counsel and lead transactional counsel for prominent, international clients from Japan, Europe, and the Middle East across a wide variety of industries.

Mr. Pfister previously was a corporate partner in the New York office of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.

Previously, Mr. Smith was a partner in Winston & Strawn's New York office.

Mr. Copley has represented clients in federal and state courts nationwide for more than 20 years.
