Proskauer Rose LLP has announced a significant expansion of its entertainment industry practice with the addition of Fred Bernstein, a top industry player with years of experience, to the firm's Corporate Department as a partner.

Also joining the firm is Beverly Frank, an attorney with extensive expertise in labor and employment and litigation matters in the entertainment industry. She joins Proskauer's Labor and Employment and Litigation departments as senior counsel. Both will be resident in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Mr. Bernstein has deep roots in the film, television, and digital entertainment industries. He has held senior executive posts at a number of major studios, including serving as the president of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Companies, and has been a film producer and e-commerce executive.

Ms. Frank has represented employers in all aspects of employment law, including litigation and counseling. She also has represented companies and individuals in the entertainment and media industries in a range of matters. Ms. Frank also represented the Select Committee of Inquiry of the Connecticut House of Representatives in its investigation of former Governor John Rowland.

Louis M. Solomon, a partner at Proskauer Rose and co-chair of the firm's Litigation Department, will receive the 2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for his article 'Under Comity's Banner,' which appeared in the December 5, 2005 edition of The National Law Journal . The annual awards honor 30 of the nation's finest legal writers and are selected from multiple submissions from the top 1000 law firms in the country.

Mr. Solomon's award-winning article delves into the issue of international comity and addresses how courts in different judicial regimes treat decisions of foreign tribunals when fundamental rights of citizens are impacted.

This is the second year in a row that a Proskauer attorney has received the Burton Award. In 2005, Christopher Wolf, partner in the firm's Washington, DC office and chair of its Privacy and Data Security Law Practice Group, received the award for his article 'Regulating Hate Speech Qua Speech Is Not The Solution To The Epidemic Of Hate On The Internet,' which appeared in The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.

John P. Barry has joined Proskauer Rose's Newark, NJ office as a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Department. Hew is experienced in representing management in a wide range of employment and labor law matters in both New Jersey and New York.
