Nixon Peabody Expands Team

Veteran attorney Vernon Johnson III has joined Nixon Peabody as a litigator in the firm's Business Litigation Practice. He will be based in the firm's Washington, DC office.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Johnson has handled numerous general civil litigation matters and has a strong background in real estate litigation, commercial leasing, health care litigation, unfair competition, restrictive covenants, commercial litigation and arbitration, and general corporate defense work. In particular, he has handled many cases in these areas involving claims for injunctive relief.

'Vernon has an impressive depth and breadth of litigation experience in a range of complex areas,' said J. William Codinha, Partner and Practice Group Co-leader for the Business Litigation Team. 'He is an excellent fit for our practice, and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm.'

Nixon Peabody has announced that it has expanded its Rhode Island presence by adding four new attorneys to the firm's Providence office. Gregory L. Benik, Neal J. McNamara and Matthew J. Frankel each join the firm from the Providence office of Holland & Knight. Jason P. Marino joins the firm from the New York office of Weil Gotshal & Manges.

Mr. Benik joins the firm as Partner and will be a member of Nixon Peabody's Energy and Environment Group, bringing experience in the areas of natural resources, energy and environmental law, administrative law and litigation. Mr. McNamara also joins the firm as a Partner in Nixon Peabody's Labor and Employment Practice Group, focusing his practice on litigation and counseling.

Mr. Frankel and Mr. Marino will be members of the firm's Labor and Employment and Business Litigation Practice Groups, respectively.
