Two lawyers from Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC) were elected in the recent Canadian federal election. The successful candidates are Jim Prentice and Peter Van Loan from FMC's Calgary and Toronto offices, respectively, and both represent the Conservative party.

The successful candidates bring a range of expertise to Ottawa.

An experienced senior lawyer with more than 25 years of practice, Mr. Prentice will represent Calgary Centre-North. As senior counsel at FMC, his practice areas include government regulation, property rights, aboriginal rights and environmental, energy and regulatory law.

Mr. Van Loan has over 15 years experience practicing municipal law and was an FMC partner and a chair of FMC's Planning and Development Law Group in Toronto prior to his initial election to the House of Commons in 2004. He has served as the official opposition critic for Human Resources and, since his election, he has continued with FMC in the capacity of consultant.
