Mark Maichel Joins Ballard Spahr In Financial Planning & Management Department

Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP has announced that Mark J. Maichel has joined the firm as of counsel in the Financial Planning & Management Department. Mr. Maichel, similar to his colleagues Wayne H. Hykan and Ellen O'Brien Kauffmann, who recently joined the firm's Denver office, will also be a member of Ballard's national Housing Practice Group and resident in the Denver office.

Mr. Maichel focuses his practice on representing investors and developers in structuring and syndicating real estate projects, including affordable housing projects and historic renovations, financed in part through federal and state tax credits.

Brian J. Winterfeldt, partner at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, was recently appointed by the International Trademark Association (INTA) to serve a two-year term on theBulletinEditorial Board as subcommittee chair of the Features Articles and Policy & Practice Subcommittee for the 2006 - 2007 committee term. Mr. Winterfeldt's responsibilities for theBulletinwill include selecting editorial content and managing a group of committee members, selected from INTA's global membership, to prepare and edit articles on association policy and global trademark practice issues for the organization's bi-monthlyBulletin . The Bulletinserves as INTA's official communication to its membership around the world.

Mr. Winterfeldt's practice involves all aspects of trademark and unfair competition law for some of America's best-known Internet and technology-based businesses.

Roberta Jacobs-Meadway, partner at Ballard Spahr, was recently selected as a member of the prestigious Panel of Neutrals (PON) for the International Trademark Association (INTA). PON members are a select group of highly qualified individuals with significant experience in trademark matters who serve as mediators to help parties resolve trademark and unfair competition disputes without litigation. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway was also appointed to the Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee to serve a one-year term.
