Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP has announced that it has elected 12 of the firm's attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1.
The new partners are: Beatriz Azcuy-Diaz (Corporate - Miami), David R. Fertig (Litigation/Regulatory - New York), Kyle C. Krpata (Corporate - Silicon Valley), Benjamin E. Marks (Litigation/Regulatory - New York), Joanne Osendarp (Litigation/Regulatory - Washington), S. Scott Parel (Corporate - Dallas), Salvatore A. Romanello (Litigation/Regulatory - New York), Thomas Schmid (Corporate - Munich), Soo-Jin Shim (Corporate - New York), Scott M. Sontag (Tax - New York), Angela C. Zambrano (Litigation/Regulatory - Dallas) and Artur Zawadowski (Corporate - Warsaw).
Ms. Azcuy-Diaz focuses on complex real estate investment and capital market financings, including senior and subordinate debt structures, construction lending, portfolio acquisitions, syndications and mezzanine loans.
Mr. Fertig concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Krpata's practice includes corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and public and private offerings of debt and equity securities.
Mr. Marks' areas of concentration include copyright, trademark, misappropriation, music licensing, unfair competition, antitrust, privacy and the First Amendment.
Ms. Osendarp focuses on international trade matters, including the implementation and enforcement of international trade and investment agreements.
Mr. Parel's practice includes corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions.
Mr. Romanello's practice includes complex commercial litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Schmid focuses on private equity and mergers and acquisitions as well as general corporate law.
Ms. Shim's primary practice areas include banking and finance, bankruptcy-related corporate transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Sontag's practice is focused primarily on structuring and negotiating domestic and international mergers and acquisitions for private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as for the firm's publicly held clients.
Ms. Zambrano's practice is focused primarily on complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Zawadowski concentrates his practice in commercial and corporate law with a special focus on restructuring and reorganization issues.
Additionally, four lawyers were named counsel to the firm, also effective January 1. They are John O'Loughlin (Litigation/Regulatory - Washington), Jean-Yves Ollier (Corporate - Paris), Denise Kosineski Plunkett (Litigation/ Regulatory - New York) and Erika L. Weinberg (Corporate - New York).
