Publication Names Holland & KnightTop Bankruptcy Firm In U.S.

For the second year in a row, Holland & Knight LLP is listed as the number one bankruptcy law firm in the U.S. by The Deal. Holland & Knight had 267 active bankruptcy cases as of September 30, 2005, the highest number of any law firm.

Holland & Knight partners Robert Labate, John Monaghan, Rudy Pittaluga and associate Lynne Xerras were included in the list of the top 50 bankruptcy lawyers, and are currently handling a combined 162 active assignments.

Holland & Knight's nationwide Restructuring, Creditors' Rights and Insolvency Practice Group is one of a handful of practices with a nationally recognized reputation for representing both debtors and creditors. The group was recently recognized by PriceWaterhouseCoopers' Global Counsel 3000 directory of the finest lawyers and firms in the world, as one of a small number of "Recommended" U.S. firms in the insolvency arena.

Aurene Martin, a partner in Holland & Knight's federal Indian Law practice group, has been appointed marketing deputy section leader within the Government Section. Ms. Martin will serve in this advisory role in addition to her full-time practice of law in Washington, DC.

Ms. Martin focuses her practice on legislative and regulatory matters. Her areas of expertise include gaming, self-governance, education and other governmental matters.Former Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs, she also served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs for more than a year. Prior to joining the Department of the Interior, she was senior counsel to the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs chaired by U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO), where she had a key role in developing legislation involving tribes.

A member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Ms. Martin is the third Native American woman to be made a partner in the firm.

Holland & Knight partner Edward F. Koren, who chairs the firm's Private Wealth Services Section. Has been named to Worth Magazine'sTop 100 Attorney's List. The list of top lawyers in the nation serving affluent individuals was published in the December 2005 issue of Worth Magazine.Mr. Koren's practice is heavily involved in estate planning and administration matters, particularly focusing on planning for executives and owners of closely held business interests, as well as the determination of the value of entities.
