The Hon. James H. Coleman, retired justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, and Melville D. Miller Jr., president of Legal Services of New Jersey, presented the Somerville law firm Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. with an Equal Justice Medal at the recent Equal Justice Awards Reception.

The medal was given for both extensive pro bono efforts on behalf of low-income clients of Legal Services of Northwest Jersey in Somerset County and for the firm's major role in the creation of the regional program from four local programs, providing extensive incorporation services, trademark protection, and consultation on human resources issues and personal policies.

Attorneys Peter D. Hutcheon and Patrick T. Collins, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm, have previously been honored with Equal Justice Medals for their personal pro bono efforts, and the firm's summer interns regularly provide legal help to Legal Services clients.

M. Karen Thompson, a member of Norris McLaughlin, has been re-appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct, for a term expiring on August 31, 2008.

Glenn L. Stein, an associate with the firm, has been appointed vice chairperson of the Somerset County Employer Legislative Committee (ELC) of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). Mr. Stein practices in the firm's corporate department.
