EEOC General Counsel Eric S. Dreiband joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP on September 12 as a partner in the firm's Labor and Employment Practice in Washington, DC.

Mr. Dreiband will defend companies in employment litigation, handle appeals of complex employment cases, and counsel clients on compliance with fair employment and wage and hour laws. He joins a practice that includes former EEOC general counsel Donald R. Livingston.

Immediately prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Dreiband served for two years as the general counsel of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate, he oversaw the federal government's litigation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Pay Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act.
