Thomson West recently announced the launch of Westlaw 50 State Surveysª, a new feature that makes it possible for practitioners to make state-by-state comparisons of statutes covering specific topics across all 50 states.
In addition, a 50 State Surveys link is displayed on the linkstab of a statute if a Westlaw Survey cites the statute. Surveys are available for topical areas, such as insurance, civil and criminal laws, education, employment, financial services, healthcare and utilities. Westlaw 50 State Surveys also provides a quick summary analysis that explains the key differences and commonalities among the statutes.
The Thomson Corporation has announced that it has acquired Global Securities Information, Inc. (GSI), a leading provider of online securities and securities-related information and research services. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

GSI's flagship product, LIVEDGAR, combines proprietary content, award-winning search technology and domain expertise to enable legal and financial professionals to conduct online securities research and obtain source documents in a single step.
GSI will become part of Thomson West. GSI operations and senior management, including President Richard Harrison, Chief Executive Officer Phillip Brown and Chief Technology Officer Nick Keenan, will join Thomson West.
The acquisition will enable Westto satisfy the currently unmet needsof transactional attorneys involvedin work such as mergers and acquisitions, real estate and securities transactions.
