Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham (K&LNG) has announced the opening of its newest office in Pal Alto, CA. With existing offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, K&LNG's Palo Alto office will strengthen the firm's presence in California and will increase the firm's total number of offices to 12.
Also new to the firm are Jon Michaelson and Linda Usoz, both of whom will be resident in K&LNG's Palo Alto office. Mr. Michaelson joins K&LNG as a partner in the intellectual property group, and Ms. Usoz joins the firm as of counsel in the labor and employment group.
Mr. Michaelson's practice focuses of patent, copyright and trademark infringement claims, as well as employment litigation. He has particular experience in disputes involving semiconductor design and manufacturing, electronic components, business application and entertainment software. His clients include numerous companies based in Silicon Valley, as well as foreign concerns with operations in the region.
Ms. Usoz represents employers in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also counsels and advises employers on all aspects of personnel administration, including conducting workplace investigations, and is a frequent speaker and trainer for employers and employer organizations.
The Boston office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart announces the addition of Barbara A. Jones as partner in its corporate practice. Ms. Jones comes to the firm from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP.
Ms. Jones, whose background also includes 13 years of legal experience in London, focuses her practice on both corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on complex international and domestic transactions.
Ms. Jones is currently vice-chair of the American Bar Association's Section on Business Law, Subcommittee on International Securities Matters.
The Washington office of Kirkpatrick has announced the addition of H. Russell Frisby Jr. as a partner in its telecommunications practice. Frisby comes to the firm from CompTel, where he was chief executive officer and acting chief legal officer. Mr. Frisby focuses his practice on regulatory and corporate matters affecting public utilities and companies in the communications and technology industries.
Kirkpatrick's San Francisco office recently welcomed Raymond L. Gill to its litigation group. Mr. Gill has extensive experience handling complex asbestos litigation issues, including medical, state-of-the-art and industrial hygiene matters.In addition to general litigation practice, Mr. Gill has filed and defended several asbestos appeals, one of which resulted in a seminal Court of Appeal decision on the asbestos statute of limitations.
