Andrew A. Childs, Chancellor of the 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association and partner in the Philadelphia office of WolfBlock, last month received the Equality Forum Distinguished Service Award recognizing his contributions to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
The award was presented on April 25 at a VIP Kickoff Reception for Equality Forum 2005, a G/L/B/T civil rights forum of more than 70 programs, parties and special events that began April 25 and culminated May 1 with a national celebration on Independence Mall in Philadelphia marking the 40th anniversary of the G/L/B/T civil rights movement.
Mr. Chirls has served as chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Board of Governors, and as a member of the association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention. He was instrumental in establishing the association's Committee on the Legal Rights of Lesbians and Gay Men.
Mr. Chirls joined WolfBlock in 1982 and has been a partner in the firm's Business Litigation Practice Group since 1989.
