Holland & Knight LLP has announced that Tom Zimmer was named chair of the Finance Group in the firm's Business Law Section.
Mr. Zimmer is executive partner of the firm's San Francisco office and practices in the areas of structured finance and the representation of companies in the financial, transportation, healthcare and technology industries. He is recognized as one of the leading aviation lawyers in the 2004 Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers.
Holland & Knight also has announced that Boston-based partner John Monaghan has been elevated to head of the firm's National Corporate Restructuring, Creditors' Rights and Insolvency Practice Group.
Mr. Monaghan is particularly focused on representing major case participants in complex commercial Chapter 11 cases. He advises clients on the business aspects of bankruptcy and workouts, and represents clients in matters in the Bankruptcy Court as well as in other state and federal courts.
Holland & Knight recently announced the closing of a $5.5 million asset purchase on behalf of its client, Illinois-based Universal Food & Beverage Company to complete the purchase of assets relating to the water production and bottling business of Virginia-based Independence Water Group, LLC.
The M&A team for Holland & Knight was led by partner Carl Neumann and associate Robert Harig, both based in the firm's Oakbrook, IL office. The real estate team was led by partner Michael Ruane from the firm's Washington, DC office. TomKinasz, a tax partner, also provided structuring advice.
