Nixon Peabody Ranks Second In Survey Of Top Law Firms In Private Equity

Nixon Peabody LLP was ranked second by Dow Jones & Company's Private Equity Analyst among leading law firms nationally for the number of private equity or venture capital funds they have negotiated and closed for general partners and limited partners in 2004. The firm moved up four positions from last year's rating with 169 funds closed, up from 103 in 2003.

Nixon Peabody retained its 17th place ranking among law firms nationally in the number of private equity and venture capital deals they have negotiated and closed in 2004, although the number of these deals rose from 72 in 2003 to 96 in 2004

"These rankings confirm that our Private Equity Team is among the leaders in the nation," said Charles P. Jacobs, head of Nixon Peabody's Private Equity Team.

Nixon Peabody's Private Equity Team consists of more than 55 attorneys who provide counsel to venture capital and private equity funds, investors, and venture-backed companies. The Private Equity Team also includes attorneys from several other practice areas, including Mergers & Acquisitions, Tax, Intellectual Property, Labor & Employment, and ERISA.

Nixon Peabody has selected John M. Rosenthal as leader of its Financial Services Practice Group, as well as Jeffrey M. Tanenbaum as leader of its Labor and Employment Practice Group. Both Mr. Rosenthal and Mr. Tanenbaum are based in the firm's San Francisco office.
