Michael K. Ligorano, a member of the Somerville, NJ-based law firm Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., has been selected by The Arc of New Jersey as the statewide winner of its Volunteer of the Year Award. Mr. Ligorano received the award at a ceremony on November 30 at the Westin Hotel in Princeton, NJ.

The Arc of New Jersey is a statewide, private, non-profit advocacy organization founded in 1947 by a group of parents with a vision of building a better quality of life for people with mental retardation and their families. Consisting of a state office and 19 local county chapters, The Arc of New Jersey is affiliated with The Arc, a national organization on mental retardation with 1,200 chapters nationwide. The Arc holds an awards program annually on the county, state and national levels to honor the best in individual, organizational and corporate support for people with developmental disabilities.

Mr. Ligorano focuses his practice on immigration and land use law. He heads the Norris McLaughlin Immigration Law Practice Group. He has extensive experience in processing all types of business and family immigration matters before the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, the U.S. Department of State and other federal agencies and courts, both domestically and abroad.
