Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP has announced that Lisa Cuevas has joined the firm as director of global diversity. In this position, Ms. Cuevas is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the firm's diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Weil Gotshal has been recognized for its pioneering and ongoing efforts in the legal community to promote diversity and create a climate of inclusion. The firm's original diversity policy was used as a model by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the firm is one of only a few law firms with a diversity-based vendor-purchasing program. Today, this program purchases a substantial eight-figure amount each year in goods and services from minority- and women-owned businesses. In addition, Weil Gotshal is believed to be the only U.S. law firm to participate in a European supplier diversity initiative.

Weil Gotshal was also an early adopter of diversity and inclusiveness training for its work force. Every partner, associate and staff member of the firm in all eight U.S. offices and its office in London has completed an extensive course of training on diversity-and the roll out of this initiative to the firm's nine overseas offices began this past summer.
