Shook Hardy Partner Becomes Chair Of ABA Section of Labor And Employment Law

Howard Shapiro, a partner in the New Orleans office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P., last month became chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Labor and Employment Law.

A nationally known ERISA litigator and labor and employment lawyer, Mr. Shapiro has been with Shook Hardy since 2002. He is listed by the National Law Journalas one of the Top 40 benefits lawyers in the country in the category of litigation representing management. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in Americasince 1997 and was selected to be one of the initial members of the Board of Governors of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He also is a member of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.

For the past year, Mr. Shapiro has served as chair-elect of the ABA's Section of Labor and Employment Law. From 1997 to 1998, he was chair of the ABA's Joint Committee on Employee Benefits, which is made up of the Employee Benefits committees of the ABA sections of Business Law, Health Law, Labor and Employment Law, Real Property Probate and Trust Law, Taxation and Torts Insurance Practice.
