Two Attorneys Join McCarter & EnglishAt Firm's Hartford, CT Office

John A. Brunjes, a private equity and venture capital transactional lawyer, and Thomas J. Finn, a litigator with a focus in the financial institutions industry, have joined McCarter & English, LLP as partners in the Hartford (CT) office.

Mr. Brunjes, formerly a counsel at Edwards & Angell, LLP, represents emerging growth companies, private investment funds, broker-dealers, investment advisers and underwriters in a full range of venture capital and general investment transactions. These may involve seed through later-stage equity and debt investments; mezzanine financings; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; public offerings of equity and debt. Mr. Brunjes advises general partners and investors in negotiating and structuring formation documents for private equity funds and SBICs.

Mr. Finn, who formerly was a partner at Halloran & Sage LLP, concentrates his practice on cases involving unfair competition, securities fraud, trade secrets, and intellectual property litigation. In addition, he handles matters relating to antitrust, failed acquisitions, lender liability.He also handles securities arbitration matters brought under federal and state securities laws before the National Association of Securities Dealers, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Arbitration Association.


Ava C. Thorin has joined McCarter & English as the firm's Chief Marketing Officer. Her responsibilities include oversight of the Firm's marketing department and all aspects of planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring the Firm's client development and marketing programs.

Prior to assuming her present position, Ms. Thorin was the Director of Client Development and Marketing for Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP for more than four years.
