The international law firm of Coudert Brothers LLP has announced that James B. Sitrick, former chairman of the firm, has been appointed to the position of Secretary-General of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), the only global non-governmental organization that exists primarily to support the principles of the United Nations.

Mr. Sitrik succeeds Ambassador Donald Blinken, former United States ambassador to Hungary, who chose to retire after four years. Mr. Sitrick will serve on a pro bono basis, as did Ambassador Blinken.

"This is a great honor for Jim and for Coudert," said Coudert Chairman David Huebner. "Jim's new role is the most recent example of Coudert's tradition of leadership in global affairs."

Mr. Sitrick was unanimously elected by the Executive Committee of the World Federation. For the next two years, he will work in close partnership with the Executive Committee, UNA-USA and the more than 100 UNAs worldwide to ensure stability and operational effectiveness of the Secretariat. Mr. Sitrick will lead the Secretariat until the next Plenary Assembly, expected to be held in 2006.

Mr. Sitrick has had a distinguished career at Coudert Brothers, where he served as chairman for 12 years. As a trusted legal adviser to governments, public institutions, corporations, and private individuals on a worldwide basis, Mr. Sitrick maintains a wide-ranging personal network of contacts and is well informed about current trends in globalization and major issues on the UN's agenda.
