Jay A. Dubow, a partner in WolfBlock's Business Litigation Practice Group and chair of the firm's Securities Litigation Group, has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
The American Bar Foundation is the preeminent research center for the empirical study of law, legal institutions, and legal processes in society. The Fellows is an honorary organization of practicing attorneys, judges, and law teachers whose professional, public, and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. Established in 1955, the organization of The Fellows encourages and supports the research program of the American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Dubow's practice concentrates in complex business litigation with a special emphasis on securities class action litigation and representing clients involved in investigations by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and various self-regulatory organizations, including stock exchanges and the National Association of Securities Dealers. Prior to joining WolfBlock, Mr. Dubow was a Branch Chief in the Division of Enforcement of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC.
WolfBlock attorney Joseph C. Bright has been named as a member of the Pennsylvania Business Tax Reform Commission. The commission was created by Governor Ed Rendell to evaluate the commonwealth's business tax structure and recommend changes that will make business taxes fairer, simpler and more competitive with other states. Members of the commission were appointed by Gov. Rendell and the leaders of the General Assembly's four causes. Mr. Bright, a partner in the WolfBlock Tax Group, was appointed was appointed by the majority leader of the House of Representatives.
James M. Sheehan, a partner in WolfBlock's Harrisburg, PA office and a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group and Homeland Security Group, has been appointed to the Imaging Automation Advisory Board. Imaging Automation, Inc. develops advanced technology and applications for document authentication, biometrics, and data collection. Members of the Advisory Board offer IA executive members expert advice, strategic recommendations and intelligence. Mr. Sheehan served as general counsel of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, having by appointed by Gov. Tom Ridge in November 1999.
