Ann Thornton Field To Head Cozen O'Connor Insurance Litigation Department

Cozen O'Connor has announced that Ann Thornton Field will be the next chair of its 170-attorney national insurance litigation department, as Robert R. Reeder moves into his retirement.


In her new post, Field joins the very small and select group of women attorneys responsible for managing large national law firms or practices. Ms. Field, who served as the department's vice-chair, under Mr. Reeder, is transitioning into the position, and will assume full management responsibility effective July 1, 2004.


Ms. Field has defended aviation insurers, manufacturers, operators, and airports as well as aircraft owners in such high visibility cases as PanAm Flight 103, the U.S. Navy experimental V-22 Osprey Tilt Rotor Aircraft, the ValuJet accident and TWA 800.

Cozen O'Connor recently formed an independent subrogation consulting company to provide recovery analysis, claims training services, and forensic evaluations to insurance companies with losses in Canada. Cozen O'Connor Subrogation Consultants, Inc. (COSC) was launched in alliance with Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP, a full-service Canadian law firm with which Cozen O'Connor affiliated in 2001 to serve cross-border work.


COSC will be managed by two principals, Vincent R. McGuinness Jr. and Elaine M. Rinaldi, who have advised U.S. insurers with worldwide interestsand Canadian insurers with U.S. interests.
