A three-lawyer team headed by Douglas B. Glass, widely recognized in Europe as an energy attorney, has moved to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP from Vinson & Elkins LLP. Mr. Glass will lead Akin Gump's energy projects development practice in its growing London office.
Listed by his peers since 1995 in The Best Lawyers in America, Mr. Glass also has been named by Euromoney as one of the world's leading energy and resource lawyers.
Before moving to Akin Gump, Mr. Glass was the managing partner of Vinson & Elkins' Moscow office and the co-chair of its business and international section. He brings to Akin Gump nine years of experience in Russia and CIS matters, and also has advised clients on projects in Africa, the Middle East, India and Western Europe, including Scandinavia and the North Sea region.
Joining Mr. Glass from Vinson & Elkins are Artem V. Faekov and Alexey L. Condratchik, who will practice as senior counsel.
Mr. Faekov will be resident in the firm's London office. He represents sponsors, borrowers, lenders and host governments in international project finance, energy and infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on projects in Eastern Europe and the CIS.
Mr. Condratchik will be resident in the Akin Gump Moscow office. His practice focuses on Russian and international corporate, energy, employment, currency and tax matters.
Akin Gump partner Joseph P. Esposito has been named to the BTI ClientService All-Star Team for delivering superior client service. In preparing its annual client-defined list, Boston-based BTI Consulting Group, a market research, management consulting and executive education firm, surveys 200 corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies regarding their outside law firm relationships. This year, clients singled out only 90 lawyers from 79 law firms for providing extraordinary client service. These lawyers were named to BTI's Client Service All-Star Team. Mr. Esposito focuses on complex civil litigation.
The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas has named Akin Gump its Rising Star of the Year in recognition of the firm's significant contributions in 2003. The award was announced at the United Way's Heroes of Hope Campaign Finale recently. Akin Gump was the only law firm to receive an award.
