Regina M. Pisa, chairman and managing partner, Goodwin Procter LLP, is one of five women who will be honored this month by the Colonel Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, MA with a New England Women's Leadership Award (NEWLA).
Ms. Pisa will receive the NEWLA Pioneer Award. The presentation will take place at a reception on Thursday, May 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the World Trade Center in Boston.
The NEWLA program started in 1992 and since its inception 55 women have been recognized in the fields of business, law, education, communications, health care, human services and sports. NEWLA recognizes women who have not only risen to positions of respect and influence, but also have found ways to give back to their communities.
Ms. Pisa became the first women in the United States to be named both chairman and managing partner of an American Lawyer 100 law firm. Her leadership is demonstrated in a number of areas - in her role at Goodwin Procter, as a leading attorney in financial service merger and acquisition work, in the business community through her trade and professional organization involvement, and in the nonprofit sector through board participation.
