Weil Adds Private Equity Senior Counsel William Hay in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, August 1, 2016: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that William Hay has joined the Firm’s Hong Kong office as Senior Counsel. Mr. Hay joins Weil from the Hong Kong office of Baring Private Equity Asia, a Weil client, where he served as General Counsel.

At Baring Private Equity Asia, Mr. Hay was responsible for all legal matters concerning the firm and its $10 billion under management, including the evaluation, completion, management and exit of portfolio investments, fund raising and general legal matters. Prior to joining Baring in 2010, he served as General Counsel of Colony Capital Asia Pacific, a leading global real estate private equity firm, as well as General Counsel of GE Capital Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for all legal matters related to the growth of the GE Capital finance business across Asia. Mr. Hay is fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.
