Patent infringement and appellate litigation attorney Allen M. Sokal has joined BakerHostetler’s Intellectual Property Group and the firm’s Patent Litigation team as counsel, resident in the Washington, D.C., office. He comes to BakerHostetler from Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, where he once served as the head of the firm’s appellate practice.

Sokal focuses his practice on representing clients in patent and related appellate matters. He draws on his numerous arguments and briefings before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and its predecessor court, the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, as well as his experience as a former patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, to guide his clients through all facets of a patent infringement case on appeal to the Federal Circuit. Although Sokal concentrates on appellate work, he is equally skilled at the trial level, where he is focused primarily on the biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. His appellate work, on the other hand, spans all technologies, including the electrical, computer, chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
