The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Stephen Olson has joined the Houston Office as a partner in the Energy Practice. Formerly a partner in BakerHostetler's Houston and New York offices, Mr. Olson will focus on energy industry M&A, private equity investments, capital markets transactions and corporate governance matters.

"Stephen joins us at a terrific time, as our Houston Office has never been busier with work for clients doing deals in the energy industry from Texas and around the world," said Jeff Schlegel, a Houston partner who co-leads Jones Day's global Energy Practice. "With more than $250 billion in upstream, midstream, and downstream transactional engagements for our Houston lawyers in the last several years, including $55 billion in the first six months of 2015 alone, adding Stephen as a member of our global energy team will further enhance our ability to provide best in class service to our clients."

Olson counsels energy industry participants in connection with public and private acquisition and divestiture transactions, complex corporate transactions such as joint ventures and major capital projects, registered offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, as well as corporate governance and other general corporate matters. His representations have ranged from private to mature public companies to private equity firms, and have included work on cross-border as well as domestic transactions.
