Weil’s Litigation Department secured three major victories last week, spanning Complex Commercial Litigation, Employment Litigation and Securities Litigation practices. The victories were achieved on behalf of global insurance broker Marsh & McLennan, pharmaceutical company Sanofi, and consumer products company Procter & Gamble. A broad group of attorneys based in Weil’s New York and Miami offices was involved in achieving these critical outcomes for clients.

In the Marsh case, the Weil team won a favorable summary judgment decision in a high-profile dispute with former executives, a ruling that provides important guidance to companies with regard to conducting internal investigations against a backdrop of government regulatory and criminal investigations. View the January 29, 2015 announcement.

On behalf of Sanofi, its Genzyme subsidiary and certain of their executives, another Weil team obtained a major victory in obtaining the dismissal of a pair of securities fraud actions in their entirety, making an important contribution to the growing body of law addressing the disclosure obligations of pharmaceutical companies engaged in clinical testing. View the February 2, 2015 announcement.

On behalf of Procter & Gamble, another Weil team won a third consecutive victory in a long-running products liability multi-district litigation (MDL) when a Florida federal court granted a motion to exclude all of plaintiffs’ general causation experts, which should have a significant impact on the final disposition of the entire MDL proceeding. View the February 2, 2015 announcement.
