Jones Day Welcomes Two New Partners in Miami; Six of Firm’s Partners Win Law360 MVP Awards

Jones Day has announced that Paul Huck Jr. and Fradyn Suárez have joined as partners in its Miami Office. Mr. Huck is a partner in the firm's Business and Tort Litigation Practice and Ms. Suárez is a partner in its Projects & Infrastructure Practice. Both arrive from the Miami office of Hunton & Williams.

A Miami native, fluent Spanish-speaking lawyer, and former general counsel to Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Mr. Huck's practice focuses on business litigation, regulatory advice, and government investigations. He has enjoyed an extensive legal career in both the private and public sectors, and represented entities and individuals in complex commercial litigation and cases of constitutional significance before state and federal trial and appellate courts. Mr. Huck was recently appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the trial courts in Miami-Dade County.

As general counsel for the governor, Mr. Huck served as the governor's principal legal advisor on the host of constitutional, legislative and statutory issues affecting the executive branch, and also supervised the major litigation being prosecuted or defended by the governor's executive agencies, including cases arising in the environmental, transportation and healthcare arenas. Prior to his tenure as the governor's general counsel, Mr. Huck served as the deputy attorney general for the state of Florida, where he was involved in the prosecution of a wide variety of civil enforcement and criminal matters in the healthcare, telecommunications and pharmaceutical industries, among others. He was listed in Best Lawyers in America 2013 and 2014.

Ms. Suárez's practice focuses on cross-border financing transactions within the Latin America and Caribbean regions, in addition to other emerging markets. She has advised a large number of commercial and development banks, among other lenders and borrowers, and she advises clients on transactions including project financings, acquisition financings, syndicated lending transactions, debt restructurings and bond offerings, among others. Notably, Ms. Suárez represented a sponsor in the $420 million sale of shares of a Panamanian toll road concessionaire to the government of Panama.

Ms. Suárez's work has also included advising private equity funds and other investor clients in connection with the structuring and documentation of joint ventures and equity and debt investments in Latin America. She has significant experience with clients in the energy, financial services and transportation industries, among others.
