Phillips Lytle LLP, a premier, 180-year-old regional law firm that is recognized nationally for its legal excellence, is continuing its expansion into the Washington, DC market with the addition of special counsel, John M. Falk.

Phillips Lytle entered the Washington, DC market in June of 2014, with plans to build a team of attorneys with the highest profiles and credentials to serve a transnational client base.

Mr. Falk has extensive experience in the areas of national security, government contracts and international law. He has represented domestic and international clients in the defense, homeland security, bio-technology, telecommunications, and mining sectors - specializing in military, security, bio-defense and foreign military sales. He began his legal career in federal court litigation with a focus on federal procurement, maritime, intellectual property and unfair competition.

As a founder of several advanced technology companies, Mr. Falk also brings unique insight as a result of his participation in numerous federal technology transfers of military products and solutions, and building pathways for leveraging federal military investments in advanced technologies. Mr. Falk has participated in the development of comprehensive Bio-Terrorism Threat Response systems Training, Simulation and Modeling for Unmanned Systems (UAV/UAS), Command Response and Recovery software for Homeland Security, Law Enforcement and Interoperable Communications networks for the First Responder community.

In 2005, Mr. Falk received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Public Service from President George W. Bush. He has also been honored with Washington and Lee University School of Law’s University Service Award, Francis J. Gilliam Prize and the Sigma Delta Chi Achievement Award. He was also the recipient of a Congressional Award Gold Medal in 1986.
