Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Expands New York Business Law, Litigation Practices

Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., is pleased to welcome four new attorneys to its New York City office.  Herbert I. Deutsch, Jeremy E. Deutsch, Alfred N. Metz, and Christian V. Cangiano, formerly of the New York City firm Deutsch, Metz & Deutsch LLP, will contribute to the growth of the firm’s business law and litigation groups in the New York legal market.

The attorneys will focus on the following areas of practice:  Herbert I. Deutsch (of counsel) – Business Law,  Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities; Jeremy E. Deutsch (member) – Business Law, Litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution Labor & Employment, Mergers & Acquisitions, Professional Liability & Malpractice, Equine Law; Alfred N. Metz (counsel) – Business Law, Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Professional Liability & Malpractice, Securities, Appellate Practice, Labor & Employment, Alternative Dispute Resolution; and Christian V. Cangiano (counsel) – Business Law, Litigation, Appellate Practice, Labor & Employment, Intellectual Property.

Herbert I. Deutsch has over 40 years’ experience handling commercial and complex litigation matters both domestically and internationally.  His broad range of expertise includes class action litigation, negotiating and structuring transactions, business acquisitions and reorganizations. Mr.  Deutsch has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in these areas.  Complex cases he has litigated include RICO cases, securities cases, commodity cases, and professional malpractice cases, among many others.
   

Jeremy E. Deutsch has over 20 years’ experience in the field of business law, both transactional and day-to-day legal counseling; and complex corporate and commercial litigation.  He has represented clients and tried cases to verdict in matters involving large frauds, breaches of fiduciary duty, breaches of contract and joint venture agreements, complex financial instrument and securities litigation, real estate lending, shareholder derivative suits, stock option litigation, and violations of restrictive covenant agreements by employees.

                                                                                       

Alfred N. Metz devotes his practice to business law, both litigation and transactional.  With over 30 years’ experience, He has expertise in complex corporate and commercial litigation (with particular emphasis on intracorporate and intrapartnership disputes, contract disputes, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and professional liability), appellate practice and procedure, alternative dispute resolution, and counseling with respect to contractual and corporate ownership matters.

Christian V. Cangiano specializes in complex corporate and commercial litigation and appellate practice, with a focus on intra-corporate, intra-partnership and intra-company disputes, contract disputes, post-merger and post-acquisition disputes, and professional liability.  He also counsels and advises on proposed business transactions, entity formations and structures, contractual obligations, trademark law, copyright law, and other transactional matters including the negotiation and drafting of corporate documents such as separation agreements for members of limited liability companies, escrow agreements, confidentiality agreements, nondisclosure agreements, employee manuals, licensing agreements and other contracts.
