Wiley Rein chairman Richard E. Wiley and Insurance Appellate Group chair Laura A. Foggan were named to Lawdragon’s list of the “500 Leading Lawyers in America” in its annual magazine released in October.  Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America” were chosen from a combination of factors, including votes and comments through an online voting form and the publication’s own editorial research.

Sixteen Wiley Rein practice areas – more than ever before – have been recognized in the 2014 “Best Law Firms” rankings, published annually by U.S. News & World Report.  For the fourth consecutive year, Wiley Rein’s preeminent Communications Practice is ranked in the top tier nationally and in Washington, DC.  In addition, nine other practice areas are ranked in the top tier in Washington, DC. They are Administrative/Regulatory Law; Appellate; Bankruptcy; Commercial Litigation; Government Relations; Insurance; and three areas of Litigation (Bankruptcy, Intellectual Property, and Patent).  The rankings were based on research that included feedback from more than 12,000 attorneys, who provided more than 330,000 law firm assessments, and nearly 7,000 clients who provided close to 20,000 evaluations.

As part of its ongoing effort to promote diversity in the legal profession, Wiley Rein has joined the NALP/Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline Program, which encourages high school students to pursue careers in the law.  The program, created by the National Association for Law Placement and Street Law Inc., pairs law firms with high schools in their communities.  Attorney volunteers work with a diverse group of talented young people, teaching them about legal concepts, offering social support, and introducing them to career paths in the field of law.
