T&K Partners Again Named Among Nation’s Top Attorneys

Thompson & Knight LLP has announced that Gregory S. C. Huffman and Barbara B. Ferguson have been selected for inclusion in “The Nation’s Top 10 Lawyers – 2013” by United States Lawyer Rankings. Thompson & Knight is one of only two Texas-based firms in the nation with multiple attorneys ranked in the Top 10. For the fourth consecutive year, Mr. Huffman was ranked first in “The Nation’s Top 10 Antitrust Lawyers.” Ms. Ferguson was ranked ninth in “The Nation’s Top 10 Trusts & Estates Lawyers.”  This is Mr. Huffman’s seventh year and Ms. Ferguson’s fourth year to be named to this prestigious list. 

Mr. Huffman is a partner in the Firm’s Dallas office and head of Thompson & Knight’s Antitrust Practice Group. With 40 years of experience, he focuses his practice on antitrust, complex commercial litigation, criminal investigations, and mergers and acquisitions. He received a Client Choice Award in the inaugural Client Choice Guide – USA & Canada 2013 by International Law Office and Lexology, where he is one of only three lawyers in the U.S. ranked in the Competition category.  He has also been named to The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. Ms. Ferguson is a partner in the Tax Practice Group in the Firm’s Dallas office. She has more than 35 years of experience and focuses her practice on estate and income tax planning and probate law, marital property law, fiduciary administration, and charitable planned giving. She is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Ms. Ferguson has been named to The Best Lawyers in America (2006-2013) and Texas Super Lawyers (2003-2013) and has been named one of “The Best Lawyers in Dallas” by D Magazine (2005, 2011-2013).

Thompson & Knight attorney Greg W. Curry has been named to the board of directors of Human Rights Initiative of North Texas (“HRI”), an organization that promotes international human rights through local service to refugees and immigrants who have suffered human rights abuses.

Mr. Curry is a partner in Thompson & Knight’s Energy Litigation Practice Group and serves as a member of the management committee.  He previously served as the firm’s pro bono coordinator. He focuses his practice on general commercial, oil and gas, real estate, and insurance coverage disputes. He has an active trial practice, having secured significant settlements and judgments for plaintiffs and defending numerous complex cases with substantial monetary claims.

In addition to HRI, Mr. Curry has a long history of community and bar involvement.  He is currently actively involved in several organizations, including the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (where he previously served as president), International Association of Defense Counsel, State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, and DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar (where he currently serves as Texas State Representative).  He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Texas Bar Foundation, Dallas Bar Foundation, and Litigation Counsel of America and is a member of The College of the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Curry has been recognized by numerous publications for his outstanding legal work, including The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. Thompson & Knight LLP attorney Andrew Melsheimer has been named to the board of directors of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce (“NDCC”).

Mr. Melsheimer is a partner in the International Energy Practice Group in the firm’s Dallas office.  He concentrates his practice on international and oil and gas-related matters, including cross-border transactions, investment projects, and strategic commercial and business advice.  He also assists clients in their dispute resolution matters (litigation and arbitration) and negotiations. Mr. Melsheimer is the author of Petroleum Passport, a blog that features his insights and adventures as an oil and gas attorney.

In addition to his involvement with the NDCC, Mr. Melsheimer is an advisory board member of the Institute of Transnational Arbitration and the Institute for International and Comparative Law for the Center for American and International Law. He is a member of the board of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, where he serves as secretary.  He is also a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, International Centre for Dispute Resolution, American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, and Young Professionals of the Dallas Regional Chamber.
