Sills Cummis & Gross P.C. has announced that Joshua N. Howley, Theodora (Teddy) McCormick and Lori M. Waldron have been named Members of the Firm; and Jonathan S. Jemison and Lisa A. Sokoloff have been named Of Counsel to the Firm, effective October 1, 2010.
Joshua N. Howley has handled complex litigation matters involving the representation of multinational corporations and financial institutions in federal and state courts. Mr. Howley was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District VA Ethics Committee and is a Board Member of the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross. Early in his career, he was a law clerk to the Hon. Charles J. Walsh, New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division.He was identified as one of "New Jersey's Rising Stars" in 2010 by New Jersey Super Lawyers.
Theodora (Teddy) McCormick focuses her practice on representing corporations in a variety of matters, including breach of contract, licensing disputes, class action defense, consumer fraud, unfair competition and false advertising under the Lanham Act.She has also represented clients in complex adversarial proceedings with the FDA and FTC relating to the adequacy of substantiation of advertising claims.Ms. McCormick is co-chair of the Sills Cummis & Gross Women's Group and is on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.She was identified as one of "New Jersey's Rising Stars" by New Jersey Super Lawyers in 2007.
Lori M. Waldron's practice focuses on the representation of public and private companies in sophisticated business transactions. She has extensive experience drafting and negotiating strategic alliance agreements, joint venture agreements, intellectual property license agreements, co-promotion agreements and supply agreements. She also has substantial experience representing clients with respect to venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate needs.Prior to joining Sills Cummis & Gross, Ms. Waldron was assistant general counsel at a national consulting firm with a large presence in the pharmaceuticals industry.
Jonathan S. Jemison has handled litigation matters in federal and state courts, with specialties in all facets of business and commercial disputes, including breach of contract, restrictive covenant litigation, copyright infringement claims and minority shareholder oppression cases.He has also conducted trials in the state courts of New York and New Jersey, and has argued before the New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division. Mr. Jemison has been identified as one of "New Jersey's Rising Stars" since 2007 by New Jersey Super Lawyers.
Lisa A. Sokoloff focuses her practice on all aspects of insurance defense with an emphasis on allegations of Labor Law violations, contractual indemnity, premises liability (including security cases), automobile and suspected fraud cases. She is an experienced appellate lawyer and also handles trials, arbitrations, mediations and framed issue hearings. Ms. Sokoloff has a certificate in trial advocacy from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and is a Special Master of the New York County Courts (1999-present).She sits on the board of directors (and is former president) of the New York Women's Bar Association and on the board of governors (and is former president) of the Jewish Lawyers Guild.
