Goodwin Procter Bolsters Capital Markets Expertise In Asia

Goodwin Procter announced today that Loretta Lau is joining the firm as a corporate finance partner in its Business Law Department. She will be resident in Hong Kong and will work closely with Goodwin Procter's corporate practice in the U.S. in continuing to grow the firm's presence and expand its client base in Asia. The addition allows Goodwin Procter to advise clients on various aspects of Hong Kong law.

Ms. Lau's practice includes advising on all aspects of corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, IPOs, private equity and foreign direct investments, Sino-foreign joint ventures, debt restructurings and workouts, as well as takeovers and privatizations. She advises international corporations and those in the People's Republic of China, as well as top-tier investment banks throughout Southeast Asia, with a focus on Hong Kong and the PRC.

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, she was a partner at Mayer Brown. Ms. Lau speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English.

Goodwin Procter has announced the continued expansion of its technology companies and intellectual property practices in California with the addition of Anthony J. McCusker, Craig M. Schmitz and James D. Riley, Jr. to the firm's Silicon Valley office.Mr. McCusker's and Mr. Schmitz's practice focuses on representing venture capital firms and emerging growth companies, particularly in the technology sector.Mr. Riley counsels emerging growth technology and life sciences companies in all aspects of intellectual property strategy, corporate partnering and strategic alliances, technology licensing, acquisition and commercialization.
