Haynes and Boone, LLP has expanded its national IP practice with the addition of former Dell Vice President and Chief IP Legal Counsel Henry N. Garrana, who joins the firm's Austin office as Of Counsel.

Mr. Garrana comes to Haynes and Boone after spending the last 14 years building Dell's intellectual property strategy and managing intellectual property litigation. He is an attorney with broad intellectual property experience in both electronics and oil field services technologies, having served as IP counsel for various units of Schlumberger LTD for 17 years prior to joining Dell.

Mr. Garrana established the IP function for Dell, developing procedures to capture innovation and create a strategic patent portfolio to counter third-party assertions from industry rivals. He negotiated special indemnity provisions with major component suppliers to mitigate infringement liability, renegotiated all of Dell's major patent licenses, and managed adverse patent negotiations with third parties.

Haynes and Boone continues expanding its international bankruptcy practice with the addition of Michael Foreman, who joins the firm's New York office as Of Counsel.

Mr. Foreman is part of the long-range plans to bolster a practice that has been consistently recognized by Chambers USA as one of the leading bankruptcy and restructuring practices in the nation.

Mr. Foreman has more than 20 years of financial bankruptcy and restructuring experience, representing secured and unsecured lenders and creditors, acquirers of and investors in distressed assets, and financially distressed companies in many of the nation's largest and most complex restructurings under Chapter 11, as well as in out-of-court and cross-border restructurings.
