The US Legal 500 2009 Edition Recommends 61 Jones Day Lawyers

The US Legal 500 has recommended 61 Jones Day lawyers (up from 51 in 2008) and 20 Jones Day practices in its 2009 edition. Additionally, among U.S. recommended firms, the following Jones Day practices were recognized as among the "Top Ranked Practices":Labor & Employment Litigation; Litigation/Product Liability & Mass Tort Defense - Consumer Products (including tobacco); M&A/Antitrust - National; M&A National Firms - Large Deals.

Jones Day was ranked first in the M&A global league tables for the first half of 2009, maintaining a position it has held for 35 consecutive quarters.In M&A rankings released this month by Thomson Reuters, Jones Day led all law firms for the number of completed deals worldwide with 140 and led the number of deals completed with U.S. targets with 82.

Bloomberg has 24 M&A rankings based on number of announced deals. Within those, Jones Day ranked first in five and in the top 10 in 14 of the 24 total. The firm was credited with 164 deals worldwide and 108 deals with U.S. involvement.

Jones Day has held the number oneranking for number of deals worldwide in both the Thomson and Bloomberg league tables every quarter since year-end 2000.

The firm also ranked first by deal count in Mergerstat's league tables for the first half, which are based only on announced deals involving U.S. companies. Jones Day has maintained this Mergerstat ranking for 25 successive quarters.

Jones Day has announced that Lisa Laukitis has joined its New York Office as a partner in its Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice.

Ms. Laukitis comes to Jones Day from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where she was a partner in the firm's restructuring group, focused on the representation of corporate debtors and secured and unsecured creditors.

The addition of Ms. Laukitis is a further extension of the recent growth of Jones Day's Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice, including a significant recent expansion. Last month, a group of seven Kirkland attorneys, including two partners, Rick Wynne and Bennett Spiegel, joined Jones Day's Los Angeles Office.
