McNellie, Real Estate; R. George Muckleroy IV, Civil Litigation; and E. Michael Sheehan, Civil Litigation.

Through its Brazilian affiliate Tauil & Chequer Advogados, Thompson & Knight has assisted with the development and structuring of an innovative and unique project called Assembléias Online, which allows for the rendering of digital voting by shareholders and quotaholders through a safe and efficient method.

Although the main purpose of Assembléias Online is to provide for the valid submission of digital votes at investor meetings at companies and funds that subscribe to the service, the overall goal of the project is much broader in scope and is in tune with corporate governance best practices. Assembléias Online will not only enhance the number of investors that will be able to effectively participate in the decision-making process of the companies and funds in which they invest, but it will also create virtual spaces for debates and discussions amongst all of the parties involved and, thus, promote unprecedented proximity, transparency, and cohesion.

Thompson & Knight LLP has accounced the continued expansion of its Intellectual Property ("IP") Practice Group with the addition of Associate Marcelle Franco Espíndola in the Firm's Rio de Janeiro office. Ms. Espíndola joins Evelyn Uliana Montellano in Brazil to strengthen Thompson & Knight's thriving and rapidly expanding IP practice comprising attorneys from six of the Firm's global offices.

Ms. Espíndola focuses her practice primarily on intellectual property litigation, including patent and trade secrets litigation, copyright, internet issues, domain names, software, and licensing, as well as advisory work. Prior to joining Thompson & Knight, she served as an associate at the Brazilian IP law firm of Montaury Pimenta, Machado & Lioce.
