K&L Gates Strengthens Hong Kong Office With New Corporate Partner

Michael K. S. Chan has recently joined the Hong Kong office of K & L Gates LLP as a partner in the firm's corporate, mergers and acquisitions and securities practice. He joins K&L Gates from Jones Day.

A Hong Kong native, Mr. Chan advises clients on a variety of transactional and corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity investments, corporate restructurings, and finance. He has been involved in numerous fund raisings, joint ventures, acquisitions, and sales in the technology and media services sectors, among others.

The Pittsburgh office of K&L Gates has welcomed David A.Grubman as a partner in the firm's corporate, mergers & acquisitions, and securities practice. He was previously a shareholder with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC.

With experience in corporate and securities transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and venture capital transactions, Mr. Grubman advises public and private clients in a range of industries, including technology, health care, industrial distribution and manufacturing, energy and telecommunications, among others. In addition to having worked on a variety of acquisition and disposition transactions, he has represented venture capital funds and emerging technology and growth companies in different stages of venture capital investment. Mr. Grubman also has counseled clients in public and private offerings of a variety of equity and debt securities.

K&L Gates real estate partner in the firm's Dallas office Martin E. Garza recently wasnamed the 2008 Latino Lawyer of the Year by the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). Mr. Garza will be presented with the award during the HNBA annual convention taking place this week in Los Angeles.

In 2006, Mr. Garza helped create the Dallas Diversity Task Force to promote hiring and retention of minorities in the city's larger law firms - a program which has since served as a model and inspiration for similar studies and diversity initiatives around the country.

Mr. Garza's law practice includes commercial real estate development and retail leasing.
