Sills Cummis Presents Discussion On Avoiding IRS Criminal Investigations

Members of Sills Cummis & Gross P.C., Lawrence S. Horn, Richard J. Sapinski and Robert J. Alter, recently briefed seminar participants on "Strategies for Avoiding IRS Criminal Investigations" at a meeting of the New Jersey State CPA Society. Topics that were discussed included the voluntary disclosure policy, issues relating to foreign bank accounts in estate planning, representing the taxpayer in sensitive examinations - so called "Egg Shell Audits," the accountant client privilege - does one exist and can one be created? The New Jersey Supreme Court's opinions on recent tax law were also explored and an update of New Jersey corporate business tax was presented.

Mr. Horn is co-chair of the firm's Corporate Internal Investigations and Business Crimes Practice Group.
