Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP has recently announced the election of Kevin Ban and Anthony Wang, both in the Firm's Shanghai office, to partnership.
Both attorneys focus on cross-border private equity and M&A transactions and are fluent Mandarin speakers.
The election of Messrs. Ban and Wang marks a continued expansion for Weil Gotshal in Asia. The firm opened its Shanghai office in 2004, its Hong Kong office in 2007 and expects to open its Beijing office in 2008. Over twenty lawyers are employed in Asia where the firm focuses on both in-bound and out-bound deals for private equity firms and multinational corporations.
Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP has announced that Joseph J. Basile will join the firm as a corporate partner with its private equity and hedge fund practice groups in Boston.
With more than 25 years' experience as a corporate, securities and finance lawyer, Mr. Basile brings his diverse transactional expertise to Weil Gotshal's dominant private equity practice. He was formerly a partner with Bingham McCutchen LLP where he represented hedge funds, private equity funds and strategic investors in complex domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and also advised on financial restructuring issues.
Antitrust partner Laura Wilkinson and associate Jeff White of Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP have been honored with the 2008 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for their article "Private Equity: Antitrust Concerns With Partial Acquisitions," published in Antitrust, an American Bar Association publication. 2008 marks the fifth consecutive year that attorneys at the firm have been selected for this important accolade.
The Burton Awards program is a national competition managed in association with the Library of Congress that is dedicated principally to recognizing and honoring law firm partners and law school students who exhibit excellence in legal writing.
The awards ceremony will feature as its guest speaker Associate Justice Stephen Breyer.
